A New User-Based Incentive Strategy for Improving Bike Sharing Systems’ Performance

چکیده
The benefits of having a Bike Sharing System (BSS) in city are numerous. Among other advantages, it promotes cleaner environment with less traffic and pollution. One major problem the users such services encounter is that full or empty stations, causing user dissatisfaction. objective this work to propose new user-based incentive method enhance BSS performance. proposed relies on spatial outlier detection algorithm. It consists adapting departure arrival stations state by stimulating change their journeys view minimizing number stations. Experiments carried out compare our some existing methods for enhancing resource availability BSSs, they performed real dataset issued from well-known called Velib. results show strategy improves resources, even when collaboration partial.

Bike Sharing Systems became popular in recent years to extend the public transportation network of cities or regions. Most research in this area focuses on finding the optimal locations for bike sharing stations. Still various approaches on how to operate such a system efficiently exist. The usefulness of a bike sharing system strongly depends on the user convenience which is directly connected...
متن کاملUser-Based Solutions for Increasing Level of Service in Bike-Sharing Transportation Systems
Bike-sharing transportation systems have been well studied from a top-down viewpoint, either for an optimal conception of the system, or for a better statistical understanding of their working mechanisms in the aim of the optimization of the management strategy. Yet bottom-up approaches that could include behavior of users have not been well studied so far. We propose an agent-based model for t...
متن کاملPredicting Bike Usage for New York City's Bike Sharing System
Bike sharing systems consist of a fleet of bikes placed in a network of docking stations. These bikes can then be rented and returned to any of the docking stations after usage. Predicting unrealized bike demand at locations currently without bike stations is important for effectively designing and expanding bike sharing systems. We predict pairwise bike demand for New York City’s Citi Bike sys...
متن کاملRebalancing Dockless Bike Sharing Systems
Bike sharing provides an environment-friendly way for traveling and is booming all over the world. Yet, due to the high similarity of user travel patterns, the bike imbalance problem constantly occurs, especially for dockless bike sharing systems, causing significant impact on service quality and company revenue. Thus, it has become a critical task for bike sharing systems to resolve such imbal...
